the true and tragic story
of the cunning serpent
eyes that seduced Eva
Adam’s seductress
twisting and twirling
spreads fear and anxiety
to naked human beings
the horror of original sin
the thirst for knowledge
of good and evil
of Adam and Eve
the punishment inflicted by God
to punish mankind
and those who still mock him
oh, but the image of God
portrayed in perfect beauty
by painters over time
his presence is a gift
indicating to who believe in him
to give a lot to get little
that mercy is a virtue

Sia lodato Gesù Cristo
la storia vera e tragica
del serpente astuto
occhi che si aprono
Eva sedotta e seduttrice
attorcigliandosi
diffonde paura e inquietudine
agli esseri umani nudi
l’orrore del peccato originale
la sete di conoscenza
del bene e del male
di Adamo ed Eva
la punizione inflitta da Dio
per punire la stirpe umana
e chi ancora lo deride
oh, ma l’immagine di Dio
ritratto in perfetta bellezza
da pittori nel tempo
la sua presenza è un dono
che indica a chi in lui crede
di dare tanto per avere poco
che la misericordia è una virtù

il figlio tuo che piangi from the son that you seek
con sguardo moribondo. with tears in your eyes.
Ormai scomparso il volto Now gone is the face
di lei che confortò of the one who comforted
il mio primo pianto. my first whines.
Da anni non si muove For years it hasn’t moved
colui che diresse he who directed
le mie prime prove. my first steps.
Il loro povero stato Their poor fate
per un figlio lontano because of a faraway son
è di un cuore straziato. is that of a broken heart.
Ma un rombo festoso But a festive roar
